Some conspiracy theorists are convinced the mastermind behind the 9/11 terror atrocities was not actually killed in the Navy Seal operation in May 2011, but was squirreled away to a secret location and given a new identity.

Now they hope top-secret files about his death will be released by Donald Trump… and they could shed new light on the mysterious disposal of his body at sea.

Bin Laden was killed during a shoot out with Navy Seals at a compound he was hiding out in at Abbottabad in Pakistan.

On May 2, 2011, the body was buried at sea off the deck of the USS Carl Vinson in the Arabian Sea.

Yesterday, Devin Nunes, the House Intelligence Committee Chairman, revealed he is in talks with the White House and other agencies about releasing remaining classified files on the operation.

The Obama administration had resisted calls to release all the files, and in its final hours, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) said it was “closing the book” by releasing a final 49 files, taking the total released so far to 571.

But, it is believed, based on previous reports that there are actually enough files to “fill a small college library,” conservative publication, The Weekly Standard.

Mr Nunes told the publication: “You can’t just keep thousands of documents locked down… that have no significant classified information in them.

“The last DNI saying that that was all they were going to put out is totally unacceptable.”

He said the files were “a critical resource for understanding how al Qaeda operates”.

He said: “Those documents need to get out, especially as you see the growth of al Qaeda and ISIS.

“Those documents need to get out for historians to have those records so that we can begin to build a history of what al Qaeda was, what it is today, what they were thinking at the time.”

Some of the files are believed to hold details about unknown connections between al Qaeda and Iran, it is believed.

But, conspiracy theorists who think Bin Laden was never even killed, hope they will have even more information about the mysterious operation.

Conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones of Info Wars have argued since the news of the death, it was faked to boost president Obama’s 2012 election campaign, and that Bin Laden was actually a former CIA operative.

One story that damages the conspiracy theories, that is still doing the rounds, is a confirmed “fake news” article which went viral.

Self-confessed satirical websiteb worldnewsdailyreport.com reported in 2015 that US whistleblower Edward Snowden had declared from his Russian safe house that he had documents which proved Bin Laden had been given a new identity in the Bahamas and remained on the CIA payroll.

Snowden was falsely reported as saying: “I have documents showing that Bin Laden is still on the CIA’s payroll.

“He is still receiving more than $100,000 a month, which are being transferred through some front businesses and organizations, directly to his Nassau bank account.

“I am not certain where he is now, but in 2013, he was living quietly in his villa with five of his wives and many children.”

Despite being entirely false, the story sparked scores of similar Youtube videos.

In fact, intelligence leaked by Snowden in 2013 actually showed that a DNA test on the body of Bin Laden, confirmed it was the terrorist who was killed.

The Pentagon had denied that it had any record of such tests.

Despite the apparent proof, the secrecy surrounding the information, only fueled conspiracy theories Bin Laden may not have been killed, in many people’s eyes.
