Inspiring: Boy Got His Hair Totally Frozen As He Walks To School In Winter Weather

Going to school or work in the winter weather can be a slog. However, hats off to this young boy who still turned up despite the cold and snowy weather.

Recently, a rural Chinese schoolboy has become viral in the web after he was left with icicles in his hair, thanks to trekking three miles to school in Arctic conditions in the south-western province of Yunnan.

The third-grade pupil was identified to be Wang Fuman. He traveled 4.5km (2.8 miles) to school in -9C (15.8F) weather on foot just to sit an exam in a small town outside the city of Shaotong.

Wang studies at the Zhuanshanbao Primary School in Xinjie Town, Ludian County, and the school’s headteacher said that his traveling far to get to school every single day.

Headteacher Fu said: “It was the first day of their final exams. The temperatures dropped to minus nine degrees Celsius in about 30 minutes that morning.”

By the time the kid arrived at school yesterday morning, his hair and eyebrows had completely frozen up, sparking laughter among his 16 classmates. The young boy didn’t seem to be bothered by the cold weather despite Fu confirming that the school’s classrooms don’t even have heating due to a lack of funding.

“The child is cute. He pulled a funny face to his classmates,” Headmaster Fu said.

According to Fu, Fuman’s a diligent student who is particularly good at maths, making him received 99 percent on his exam. Reporters have also been told by the boy that he had frostbite on his hands from helping his grandmother do farm work.

Based on Pear Video, Fuman doesn’t come from the most well-off family and living in a mud hut with his grandma and his older sister. He doesn’t see his parents often as they are migrant workers living in other cities.

People in China expressed their admiration to Fuman and many users on the Chinese social media site Weibo left encouraging messages for him, hoping life will get easier for him if he works hard.

One user on Weibo, “Study hard to change your destiny. I believe you can.”

Another user said, “The wealth gap in China is too big. Whenever I see news like this, I think of the weak side behind China’s prosperous appearance.”
