The bizarre allegation was one of the most outrageous conspiracy theories made to date.
But, it has now been exposed as an elaborate hoax, using old NASA footage.
Claims were made the alleged group the Illuminati destroyed an alleged alien UFO known as the Black Knight Satellite, which was supposedly monitoring Earth.
The Illuminati is a conspiracy theory that a secret elite group of top politicians, business leaders and celebrities actually pull the strings of the main global governments and are hell bent on introducing a New World order to take over the world.
But there is no confirmed evidence for it existing at all.
The Black Knight Satellite is alleged to be a 13,000-year-old satellite placed into orbit by aliens to monitor the Earth.
But, pictures purporting to show it have previously been debunked as being a thermal space blanket that was dropped into space by accident by the crew of a NASA space shuttle in the 1990s.
But, none of this stopped alien conspiracy theorists bolting the two conspiracy theories together to create one of the most outrageous claims to date.
The video was first uploaded to YouTube channel UFO Today.
It was picked up by Tyler Glockner, of fellow channel Secureteam10, who discussed the alleged video footage of the Black Knight Satellite being vaporised by an Illuminati spacecraft.
He said the video apparently shows pieces of the Black Knight satellite breaking apart as it zooms, burning, through space.
He said the alleged leaked video claimed an “anti-matter missile” was used to destroy it, allegedly owned by the Illuminati.
Eventually, the fireball turns into one perfectly round flying object that the video’s producers describe as an “alien escape pod”.
He then went onto to say he was sceptical if it was genuine footage.
He said: “I will admit it’s very sketchy. However I’ve continued to receive Twitter messages about it, emails about it and Facebook messages about it.
“Maybe we can discover who is behind it.
“Yesterday a YouTube account got hacked and this footage was leaked online.
“It was unclear who gave the order to bring down the craft.”
He said the YouTube channel that originally posted the clip “does not appear to be reputable” and he questioned the strange film angles within the clip.
He added: “But I would like to find out where this footage came from, but so far I haven’t been able to find a source.
“It does look like legitimate footage of something burning up in the atmosphere, so is this really a leaked video that ended up on the internet?
“I want to find out more.”
But, aside from fact that Wikileaks made no mention of the alleged leak on any of its internet sites, the video has now been debunked by more serious UFO investigators.
Scott Brando, who runs hoax-busting website ufoofinterest.org, identified that the edited footage used in the allegedly leaked video actually dated back to 2010.
It was taken from video released that year by NASA of the re-entry of the Hayabusa unmanned spacecraft over Australia.
Mr Brando tweeted: “Folks! There is no #alien satellite shot down by the @ILLUMINATIAM, it’s just a #fakenews shared by known hoaxers.”
