The crisp captures show two UFOs apparently photographed by Eric Thomason above Maslin Beach in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, on March 10 1993.
According to Mr Thomason he was looking out to sea, when he saw the UFO rise from the waves and fly towards him.
Later, a second, smaller UFO appeared and came to join the first one.
When compared to other alleged UFO images, they were extraordinarily clear.
Mr Thomason told UFO Sweden: “It was then that I saw a development at first glance on the water, and something resembling the tower on a nuclear submarine rose.”
He even said he feared being abducted after seeing the “craft.”
He added: “I had known about individuals being taken by UFOs, so I moved down a slant adjacent area.
“From that point I could see how the light-dark object came flying to some degree south of me, and stopped over the mine.
“At that exact second I spotted yet another object, north of the first.
“That is the point at which I snapped my second picture, yet since the light from the dawn was straight into my view – I moved a little to one side.”
“While taking photos from his spot five metres underneath the highest point of the bluff, the smaller UFO moved towards the bigger one, stopped, and afterward proceeded upwards, into the bigger craft.”
As it came towards him, he claimed: “I could feel water dribbling from the craft.”
But, amazingly, Mr Thomason did not go vocal with the pictures for two months, leading many to believe they are hoaxed pictures, using a man-made object.
Clas Svahn, from UFO Sweden, who interviewed him found part of a plastic ventilation system for a boat that resembled the UFO in the image.
He put it to Mr Thomason, but he insisted it was a genuine sighting.
Mr Svahn added: “Either Eric Thomason’s photos are the most amazing up until now, or it’s only a basic trick.”
But, Scott Brando, who runs hoax-busting website ufoofinterest.org, blasted the images as hoaxes using models.
He told Express.co.uk: “The Maslin Beach UFO case is an old hoax similar to the Adamski sightings, using a model craft.”
He also provided a link to one of the pictures in which there appeared to be visible string dangling from the so-called UFO.
He said: “In this original picture you can see the wire.”
